Unproductive Courses Report

Overview

The Unproductive Courses report offers insight into the number of unproductive courses (courses that were not successfully completed or that do not meet a pathway rule) at the institution. This report is found in the Degree Velocity folder in Supplemental Reports. 

Filters

Filers default to ‘all’ of that category unless otherwise noted.

Unproductive Credits by Campus Code Widget

The Unproductive Credits by Campus Code widget is a horizontal bar chart that displays the number of unproductive credits for various pathways, broken up by campus.

Widget Interaction

• Slider bar
  • The bar to the left of the bar graph is a good way to zone in on a group that has a lot of items in a category.
  • Click and drag the window to move the whole window while retaining its size.
  • Drag the top and bottom bars on either side of the grey window to zoom in or out.
• Campus Selection
  • On the bottom of the graph, hover over a campus code to highlight that campus’s portion of the graph.
  • Selecting one of the boxes next to the campus code will filter out the campus from the bar graph visual.
• Pathway Selection o If you wish to filter the entire report to a certain pathway through this widget, click one of the horizontal bars.

Unproductive Courses by Pathway Widget

The Unproductive Courses by Pathway widget is a pivot table that displays various unproductive courses in a pathway and shows information regarding the unproductive course including the number of credits, the grade received, and the number of students.

Widget Interaction

• Clicking on the hyperlinked fields will show an additional drill-in report that shows more details about the grades received by the students in that specific course, and the pathway that it is associated with.
• Filtering from the report will also apply in the drill-in.
• To leave the drill-in, click anywhere off the visual to return to the Unproductive Courses report.

Unproductive Courses Widget

The Unproductive Courses Widget shows the number of students and the total unproductive credits per course.

Widget Interaction

• Select any highlighted value in this table to pull up the Unproductive Courses Drill-in. 
• Filtering from the report will also apply in the drill-in.
• Further filtering will be applied to the drill-in, but not the report.
• To leave the drill-in, click anywhere off the visual to return to the Unproductive Courses report.
