Overview
The Room Scheduling Patterns Report can be used to study room and section meeting scheduling patterns for a term. It can assist in determining how to adjust the Prime and Standard week parameters if the auto calculation shows the need for modification. Only terms that have been selected for a capacity analysis may be used for this report.
Filters
Filters are located on the right-side panel and default to ‘all’ of that category unless otherwise noted.

Top Level Dials
The top set of dials show the top-level metrics totals of rooms, meeting patterns, and section meetings. As filtering is applied to this report, the widgets will change to reflect the metrics for the filtered set only.
Room or Section Meetings Report Toggle
Depending on if the "Rooms" or "Section Meetings" toggle is selected will determine the results of each widget.
Room or Section Meeting Usage by Time of Day Widget
Depending on if the "Rooms" or "Section Meetings" toggle is selected will show the total amount of rooms or section meetings scheduled by the time of day. Analyzing this can reveal the busiest times of each day and create further understanding of how rooms and section meetings have been scheduled throughout a term.
Hovering on any line will remove the other days of the week to easily view the metric.
You can click on the days of the week at the bottom to include or exclude days from the chart. By default, all days of the week are selected.
Room Usage or Section Meetings by Time of Day
This pivot chart displays the underlying data from the line chart from the Room or Section Meeting Usage by Time of Day widget (above).
Clicking on the hyperlinked fields will show an additional drill-in report showing more detail for the selected time slot including meeting patterns used, the total amount of rooms, and section meetings scheduled.
Room Usage or Section Meetings by Day Widget
This pie chart shows a visual representation of the percentage of total rooms or section meetings scheduled for each day depending on the report toggle.
Rooms Used or Section Meetings Taught by Contact Hours Widget
The sunburst dial allows insight into how rooms or section meetings are scheduled by contact hours. Hovering the mouse over a piece of the sundial will change the middle to show the results of the selected piece of the sundial.
Widget Interaction
- The innermost circle shows the distinct contact hours scheduled and how many rooms are assigned having each contact hour and the total amount of rooms this applies.
- Highlighting the next ring of the circle will show within the innermost circle, how many days of the week a meeting pattern meets within the contact hours and the total amount of rooms this applies.
- The outer circle shows the meeting patterns used within the contact hours and the number of days of the week.
Contact Hours Distribution in Rooms or Section Meetings Widget
This pivot chart is the underlying data used in the sundial chart. It shows total section meetings and rooms grouped by contact hours, the number of days met, then the specific meeting days.
Meeting Patterns in Rooms or Section Meetings Widget
The Meeting Patterns in Rooms/Section Meetings Widget shows total scheduled section meetings and rooms used for each meeting pattern. This highlights the frequency in which a meeting pattern is in use.
Meeting Patterns With Only One Section Associated (Rooms Only)
The Meeting Patterns With Only One Section Associated Widget highlights meeting patterns that only have one section meeting scheduled. Note: these are only section meetings that have a room assigned to them. This can highlight adverse scheduling practices.
Usage by Room Type and Campus Widget
The Usage by Room Type and Campus Widget shows the total rooms used, section meetings scheduled, and unique meeting patterns grouped by campus and room type. The Rooms/Section Meetings toggle does not apply to this widget.
