Degree Velocity® Reports
The Degree Velocity reports track students' degree completion in real-time while they progress through the institution. If Predict is enabled and the data is missing, a new run may be needed in order for this feature to be added.
The Degree Velocity Summary report is the primary Degree Velocity report for the institution and displays an overview of your institution’s* student success.
Degree Velocity Summary ReportThe Intro to Degree Velocity report displays metrics for your institution and how they are calculated.
Intro to Degree Velocity ReportThe Momentum Year Metrics report will show the same Momentum Year metrics available in the Momentum Year App for multiple terms at once. This will allow the comparison of Momentum Year metrics term over term.
Momentum Year Metrics ReportThe Pathway Velocity report focuses on the analysis of the pathway of your institution selected in the filter on the right-hand side.
Pathway Velocity ReportThe Unproductive Courses report offers insight into the number of unproductive courses (courses that were not successfully completed or that do not meet a pathway rule) at the institution.
Unproductive Courses ReportThe Unproductive Courses drill-in is accessed through the Unproductive Course widget in the Unproductive Courses Report. The drill-in offers a deeper look into the number of unproductive credits taken per pathway and the grades received by the students.
Unproductive Courses Drill-InDFW Grades Reports
Unsuccessful grades, commonly referred to as DFW’s, are a substantial source of decreased student retention, progression, and graduation. The DFW reports focus on identifying trends in unsuccessful grades and identifying academic situations that may be leading to increased DFW rates. This information informs the allocation of limited academic support resources, pathway design, advising, and course offering decisions to increase retention, progression, and graduation.
- Overall unsuccessful rates by term and offering modality
- Unsuccessful rates by individual course
- Unsuccessful rates segmented by course and offering modality
- Unsuccessful rates segmented by course and instructor
It highlights the difference in DFW rates between what is average for the course, and what the average DFW rate is for the course when taken in the same term as the "combo" course. DFW grades are identified as "non-applicable" grade codes that are set up in the Astra application.
Looking at the variance in DFW rates for the same course in this matter may help provide insight into pathway design, and guide institutions in making decisions around which courses should potentially be taken in the same term.
The DFW Pathway report displays information on unsuccessful grades (commonly referred to as DFW’s) for courses by pathway. DFW grades are identified as "non-applicable" grade codes that are set up in the Astra application or can be configured as a separate DFW list. Transfer courses in a student’s academic history as well as courses that did not receive a grade are excluded from the report.
Being able to quickly and effectively identify situations that are leading to higher DFW rates is key to developing strategies and allocating limited resources to increasing student retention, progression, and graduation. Viewing them through the pathway lens will help uncover whether a student's pathway might be a contribution to DFW rates.
The DFW Toxic Course Combination report focuses on identifying individual courses that have substantially increased unsuccessful rates when taken in the same term with specific other courses. These are course combinations that should be avoided by students due to the increased DFW rate. This information is very powerful in informing pathway design and advising recommendations to improve retention, progression, and graduation.
DFW Toxic Course Combinations ReportEnrollment & Financial Health Reports
Enrollment health reports help an institution understand how the program size and course fragmentation across campuses as well as offering a variety impacts the availability of courses to students in their pathway.
Financial Analysis layers within the insight into tuition revenue, instructional cost, and margin to further help an institution understand the sustainability of its pathways.
Enrollment Health is a tool to understand the expected number of students moving through your programs. It is also important to understand additional aspects of student preference while examining Enrollment Health, such as campus and modality. Once you understand Enrollment Health, you can pinpoint how programs are fragmented and uncover opportunities to manage the tradeoff between variety and sustainability.
Completion Track Analysis by Campus ReportThe Financial Analysis report provides insight into the tuition revenue, instructional cost, and margin of your pathways for any given term(s). This perspective can help you understand the financial sustainability of your pathways.
The Financial Analysis Validation Report is a supplemental report to the Financial Analysis report with additional data validation pivot tables.
HESI® Reports
Impact – Benchmarking through the Higher Education Scheduling Index (HESI®). HESI is Ad Astra’s proprietary peer database of over 200+ institutions (2-year, 4-year, public, and private) used to benchmark campuses’ space utilization and course offerings. HESI metrics can help academic leaders optimize course offerings with the goal of advancing student completions. Some metrics you can find are Classroom Utilization, Seat-Fill Utilization, Off-grid Utilization and Waste, Enrollment Ratio, Underutilized Course Ratio, and First Year Overloaded Ratio. Discover the list of HESI metrics.
The HESI Comparison report provides a comparison of your institution to our peer database of 200+ institutions. Comparison can be made to all institutions, like Carnegie classification, and similar institution type. This report includes the Course Access and Efficiency Quadrant, Classroom Utilization, Seat-Fill Utilization, Off-grid Utilization and Waste, Enrollment Ratio, Underutilized Course Ratio, First Year Overloaded Ratio, and eight additional metrics.
HESI Comparison ReportThe filtering capability allows a user to look at this data by many different categories, all the way down to individual courses.
In this model, if census enrollment is configured, it will be used for enrollment calculations unless actual enrollment is higher than census. "Seats" values reflect section maximum enrollment values unless the "projected enrollment" alternative is configured.
