Course Details Drill-in

Overview

You can access the Course Details drill-in through the Course Offering Index report. On the "Course Breakdown " widget you can right-click the pie chart and "jump to Course Details".

The drill-in shows detailed information about courses and sections to provide insight into why the aggregations appear as they do.

Filters

The filters match Course Offerings Index and manipulating these filters in the drill-in will NOT affect the filtering on the main Course Offering Index page.

Color Coding

The colors on all widgets indicate fill rates that are consistent throughout the reports and drill-ins.

Course Breakdown by Campus Widget

The Course Breakdown by Campus widget is a horizontal stacked bar chart that displays the amount of underutilized, overloaded, balanced, and undefined courses. The Fill Category filter does not affect this widget. By default, the campus category is displayed but can be changed to other category groups by right-clicking on the bar.

Widget Interaction

• Left-Click
  • Click on any bar to filter to a specific item.
  • This will highlight the current selection and underemphasize the other options.
  • All widgets will filter to this selection.
• Categories
  • The categories will show the three categories that are not currently selected. Changing the category on this widget will not alter any other widget on the report.
  • If an item was selected, you can change categories and the visual will change to see the categories within your first selection. Ex. Choose a specific campus. Then choose college category. The colleges within the selected campus will be visible.
  • Available Options
    • College
    • Department
    • Subject
    • Campus
  • To go back to default, click on the ‘clear selection’ icon on the heading of the widget.
• Slider Bar
  • The bar below the bar graph is a good way to zone in on a group that has a lot of items in a category.
  • Click and drag the window to move the whole window while retaining its size.
  • Drag the right and left bars on either side of the grey window to zoom in.

Course Details Widget

The Course Details widget is a pivot chart that shows many details about courses in a term. Using the filter panel on the side as well as the Course Breakdown widget will bubble up course details for the courses that apply to the filters.

Section Details Widget

The Section Details widget is a pivot chart that shows many details about sections in a term. Using the filter panel on the side as well as the Course Breakdown widget will bubble up section details for the sections that apply to the filters.
