The Smart Schedule Sandbox provides detailed information about each course listed by drilling into the course.
To open the Course Summary, click the course title from the Smart Schedule Sandbox grid.
The Course Summary modal displays the individual demand type data used to calculate overall demand for courses. This Course Summary is designed for analyzing recommendations based on course demand, simulated registration, etc. Users can drill in further to view the Analysis Details or Unmet Required Seats.
The Course Summary graph (top right corner) displays the seats needed compared to the demand found by different demand types (Baseline, Trend, Program, Predictive, Planner), displayed in historical or analysis color-coded categories.
Term Summary Tab
The Term Summary tab displays the section, enrollment, seat and enrollment ratio history for historical terms. A user can click the value in the Sections or Seats columns to view a list of the section meetings associated to that term.
The Term Summary Graph (bottom right corner) displays Enrollment, Term Seats and Analysis Term Seats for historical terms. Clicking on Enrollment, Term Seats or Analysis Term Seats allows a user to display or hide those areas.
- X axis = Terms
- Y axis = Number of seats
Addition/Reduction Candidates Tab
The Addition/Reduction Candidates tab displays the delta between sections offered and sections needed for historical terms.
The Addition/Reduction Candidates graph (bottom right corner) shows the number of sections offered compared to the number of sections needed. Clicking on Sections Offered or Sections Needed allows a user to display or hide those areas.
- X axis = Terms
- Y axis = Number of sections
The analysis details modal looks deeper into the details different types of demand and simulated registration information. Users can move between tabs to view the demand and students grouped in different ways. The Capacity Conflicts, Availability Conflicts and Section Conflicts link to additional information in the Simulated Registration Details modal.
Unmet Required Seats
The Unmet Required Seats modal shows, by credit hour band, how many required seats have been met vs. unmet. It is important to view this data by credit hour bands so schedulers can see which students may not have access to this course. In the example below, there are many students in higher credit hour bands who will not get this course, even though they have it as a requirement. It could potentially set these students back in their critical path to graduation/completion if more seats are not offered.
Simulated Registration Details
The simulated registration process will output a set of results to help schools understand what type of conflicts are prevalent in their schedules. Users can view this information in the Simulated Registration Details modal and even jump to the Scheduler to resolve conflicts.
Capacity Conflict: Sections are offered, but no seats are available (first choice courses for students and the students that will not get the course).
Availability Conflict: No sections are available due to student availability templates.
Section Conflict: A section is available, but conflicts with the meeting pattern of another required section.
Successful Attempts: The number of students successfully registered into the course through the simulated registration run.
Registration Attempts: The number of students registered into the course + sum of all conflicts.
1st Choice Attempts: The number of times simulated registration attempted to schedule a 1st choice course. Highest probability courses adding up to a student’s load. This value is a subset of registration attempts.
Resolve Section Conflicts
- From the Section Conflicts tab, click Resolve Conflicts.
- Use the filters within the Scheduler to find a different suitable meeting pattern and room.
